The trip across the strait was great, had brilliant weather with around a 3metre rolling swell. Not a cloud in the sky, but the wind was freezing!

My trip to the seal colony involved some light offroading. The old van took a bit of convincing to shoot this gap, known as Devils Gate, but I made it through after some pointers from a local.

Pukekura Park

Having trouble finding time to upload pics so heres another mass upload while I’ve got time and free internet. You will also notice I’ve reverted to using colour pictures because it takes far too long to organise otherwise.

Forgotten World Highway

The tunnel is approximately 180 metres long, and was originally built five metres high.
However, with the introduction of stock trucks and trailers onto the road, this was not high
enough. In 1985, Colin Boyd (from Inglewood Metal Supplies) lowered the floor a further two
metres.

Wish I could have got more photos of this road but I was in a hurry and it’s a mission of a road as it is without having to try to photograph it.
